Ahoy, sailors! And welcome to the ocean's of 2019 - happy new year! We'll be looking towards ever new horizons together, and as always there will be some waves of changes along with it.
Both BWCL and STPL will be starting again within weeks, RaW will start again this coming week (i.e. 7. January), and in general we'll start to "wake up" again after having a pleasent rest over the Holidays. Or at the very least, I hope it has been pleasent for you all. I take it as a good sign that the activity on Discord has dropped significantly, as that hopefully means people have been too busy with with family and/or friends
There are four primary points I'd like to go through today, however before that I'd just quickly remind everyone of our weekend together on 5.-7. April this Spring. All members are welcome, and already we have people who've ordered plane tickets and have it all arranged. Can't wait to get to meet as many of you as possible in real life! At last I can start hugging you all <3 More information about it can be found here: clan-rev.freeforums.net/thread/204/real-life-clan-gathering-april
Moving over to the agenda.
1. Clan Recruitment
We're quite off and on in regards to recruitment, but that is to ensure that we don't grow too fast or big for familiarity. At this moment, there are two categories of members I am looking for, and they are so specific that this round of recruitment, I will be handling the process entirely myself. SkRiK is still our recruiter, but just not for the batch of recruits. But I also want you all to know what I'll be looking for, just to know what you're in for.
- The first category will be new and extremly bad players who might struggle to find a place in the community. As I understand quite many, people feel like their lack of skill hinders them from being taken up by any clans. They become lonely, and in turn they turn away from the game. We as established teams have a responsibility to pick these up and give them space. To make it possible for them to improve whilst also enjoying themselves. I am proud that so many of you are doing such excellent work in taking in new members, giving them advice, being kind towards them, but still not sugar-coating anything. People like NarsiL and BigSmoke have both invested a lot of time and effort into guiding newer players. This sort of work is invaluable not only to the clan, but also to the community overall. There is the CPL (which is an amazing event I'd recommend for anyone), but a mashed together team isn't quite the same as a clan. A clan is a home. And I wish for our home's warmth to make new seeds sprout, and new faces bloom the meadow's of top level StarCraft.
- The second category will be of a very different nature. In the comind round of STPL, and in future seasons, I'll be putting even more effort and focus into winning and developing our members. Even though the most important thing for me is love and friendship and all that, I'm really quite a competative person. I feel we've established the fundamentals, and now I look toward new goals. Not all would have to follow me on this road. I've invited a few whom I think will fit, and some have already accepted. We'll start focusing more on putting dedicated and motivated players in the line up. We'll also set up substitutes for each member in the top line up, so that if any of them fails to attend, the substitute will also be well prepared to play. Hence, all substitutes will prepare for their match as if they were in the top line up.
In order to see this vision happen, we'll need more members who'll join for this very reason. They'll still be bound by the rules of manners as we all are, but they will only be recruited for the purpose of playing in the STPL, and in both practicing for it and giving others practice for their games. Their skill may not be the most important aspect - their willingness to work hard and improve is. However, I will still put in the strongest players available for the top line up. STPL is still about prestige, first and foremost. And we'll see to that in the next round we'll win at least 3 clan wars, and not just 2. And in the future seasons, we'll start rising even more. I firmly believe in working hard for long-term goals. To establish firm foundations first, and then have results follow second. This will be a step in that direction.
On that note, I will also be a lot more focused on STPL and the competative aspects of gaming henceforth. I'll not participate in RaW anymore, simply to ensure that I have as much time for this as possible. My focus may also make me a bit less sociable online, where I may want to play 1v1 and just about never 3v3 or 2v2 (not that I've played that much to begin with ). And I may also prioritize playing ranked, over playing in tournaments or any other event/activity which more often than not include long waiting time. But I do still love you and will keep spamming you all from time to time to see how life is - it's just that we've grown to a size where it's hard to both take care of all members indivudlally, and also make large enough room for what drives me in order to maintain enough motivation to keep it up. A bit selfish, but I hope you'll indulge me.
2. BWCL - new rules, format, and leadership
It hasn't been properly announced yet, but I wish to take the opportunity here. I am no longer in charge of handling our BWCL CWs. Caspas, NarsiL, and MaytOsS are now the people in charge of all that. It was implemented a few rounds before the end of the last season, so many might know already. But at least now it's been properly announced. Furthermore, there will be some changes in how BWCL as a league overall is run, but this is mainly relevant for the leaders. Nevertheless, you will all receive information in due time.
3. The logo.
There is the matter of our logo. It's been an ongoing thing for quite some time. There were some comments from various members that our current logo was really not their taste, and that they'd rather have a new one. This is fair feedback. However, there's been very little intiative to actually see it done, other than myself creating and bumping the thread. BullDog has made several great suggestions, however! To put the matter to rest, we'll be deciding it once and for all this Januare or February. The reason being, is partly because I've been wary to vote over changing it when there's been seemingly so little interest in it. And partly because I don't want to change our logo until the next season fo the STPL, so that Qikz won't have to change all his pictures into his overlay.
Nevertheless, the vote will come. If you have any suggestions, you can find the thread here to make suggestions for a logo: clan-rev.freeforums.net/thread/103/rev-logo-competition-deadlines-inside
4. Distributing the STPL prize money
The way STPL is being run, all members participating will get a percentage of the prize pool. Our share will likely be very small (I haven't collected the numbers and calculated it yet), but even so I think it's important to think it over as a collected team. Personally, I want to give it to Qikz himself, for all the hard work he does. And I think it's quite likely most will think so too. However, there is also the matter that many of our team members have put in a lot of effort into practice, set aside their Sundays to play and all these things. These players in particular are entitled to at least some of the money. It'd be extremely hard to know exactly how to distribute the money, though, but at least I think it's important to acknowledge this. (ps. I don't want any more for myself, just to make that clear, but I'd be fine with awarding some of our players with money, should the clan decide it).
Think on it. We'll make a thread where we can discuss options, and then if there's any need for a poll, we'll put it to the vote. But if the general atmosphere is very clear toward one option, I'll just decide on that right away, rather than all the hazzle of a poll.
And with that, I think that's just about all there is for me to write right now. If any of the others in the Management would like to adress BWCL and such here, they are more than welcome to do that. So please scroll down the comments to see if you can find a comment from them there, before you close
I look forward to a new year together! We've already done so much, and there is more to be done! I'd also like to get another interview done (as with ZZZero) in a not too distant future. Other than that, I adore anyone who takes the initative to arrange anything. Like SkRiK with his 3v3 tournament initiative, or BullDog who arranged a Cozy Clan Gaming Night, or Quail/Caspas who arranged the in-house tournaments - these are all such fantastic things to see happen!!
The more the merrier - feel free, take intiative, use the ReV name for any event or tournament you'd like (ofc trusting you to be an adult about it, and not arrange some "Drugs are cool", or "Bad manner is okay" event). Let's build! Let's create! Let's demolish all opposition beneath our feet like the insects they are!
Forward the White Lion! Forward the Revolution! Tai'Shar ReV!
